Pujol and Turbo Fruits on Daytrotter

Pujol at Hi Tone

Seems like Fareveller bands are keeping the music website Daytrotter quite busy these days. Nashville’s garage rock purveyors Pujol and Turbo Fruits both had their pictures painted and played some tunes for the website recently.

Daniel Pujol and co. contributed some favorites including “Butterflyknife,” “Black Rabbit,” “Keeper of Atlantis” and “Too Safe.”

Turbo Fruits bashed out five tunes, including my personal fave “Colt .45″

photo of Margot and the Nuclear So and So'sFareveller would not have been the success it was if it weren’t for the generosity of these two organizations. The Ardent pre-parties, the artist tours of the Stax Museum and the cool Warm-Ups recorded by the some of the visiting bands are just some of the small things that made Fareveller unique and exciting for our artists.

Check out Star and Micey, The Wealthy West, Dignan and Margot and the Nuclear So and So’s as they all recorded live sets at Ardent Studios. These recordings can be found on TheVinylDistrict.com.

Margot & the Nuclear So and So’s brought a stripped-down version of their spaced out folk to Daytrotter on March 8. Playing a handful of tunes from their latest album, Buzzard, they also treat us to a haunting version of “A Journalist Falls In Love With Death Row Inmate #16.”

Fareveller artist news round-up!

There’s a lot going on in Farevellerland these days, with a new promo video, press, and preparations aplenty. Check out the articles in the Memphis Daily News and RSVP magazine featuring Fareveller. Bands are making news, playing shows, and generally wreaking havoc on the indie music world, too.

Oxford, MS upstarts Young Buffalo made a big splash over in Europe with shows in London this month, and they start their US tour March 3. NME gave them some high praise by including their single “Only We Can Keep You From Harm” in their top 10 free downloads (among the likes of the Strokes and the White Stripes).

Damien Jurado announced spring tour dates with John Vanderslice and Viva Voce. He’s hard at work recording “LP10″ at National Freedom studio, and he recently stopped by NPR to record a live Tiny Desk Concert.

Rainy Day Manual threw a record release bash at Newby’s on Saturday night with fellow Farevellers Mobley. We were there, and both bands absolutely killed it. Go download Rainy Day Manual’s new album “Instructions in English“ now!

Check out new Pezz photos from video shoot

New photos from the Pezz video shoot for “The Wicked Leading the Blind” 7″ are up at the Fat Sandwich site. Memphis record label Fat Sandwich released the record last June, so go order it here.

Brad Phelan of Live from Memphis is directing the whole video shebang, and label mastermind Daniel Drinkard snapped the photos.

Also, become a fan of Pezz on Facebook and read the story about how they almost lost their name to a Canadian band a few years back.

Vinyl District interviews Jeremy Stanfill

Maybe I’m just slow (okay I’m definitely slow), but I just found this Jeremy Stanfill interview by our friends at the Vinyl District. So if you missed it too, go check it out and see what he’s up to these days.

In an installment of Another Cup of Coffee, Chris Milam talks to Jeremy about who’s playing live with him these days, his prowess as a multi-instrumentalist, and of course his newest single, Tennessee Heartbreak.

Rocketboy Brandon Kinder takes flight

Cheesy headline, check. Great new solo project, check.

Brandon Kinder of the Rocketboys just launched his new project, the Wealthy West. He’ll be releasing an EP on March 8, and if the new songs on his Facebook page are any indication, we’re in for a real treat.

Go download the first song, “Love Is Not Enough” now.

Go get your Fareveller tickets now!

Tickets are now available for Fareveller! And I can’t imagine a more romantic Valentine’s Day present than a ticket to the new best music festival in Memphis. It’s like Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory of indie music.

Just a little over a week ago, California garage rockers Bare Wires finished recording their new album, “Cheap Perfume.”

Almost a month ago, their tune “I Love You Tonite” was featured as  NPR’s the Song of the Day (then they went back to playing Mozart, Chopin, and “Delicious Dish”). Lucky for you and me, there’s a thing called the Internet that saves stuff like that and lets you listen to it again. And again. And again.

Whatever you do, DO NOT confuse the Fareveller-approved Bare Wires with this.

Morning Teleportation’s new album, “Expanding Anyway,” will be released on March 8 by Glacial Pace Recordings. That means they’re gonna have a bunch of new tunes to play at Fareveller, and the only way for you to sing along is if you buy the record.

The album was produced by Clay Jones and and Glacial Pace owner, Isaac Brock (of Modest Mouse). They’ll be on tour across the U.S. throughout March and April, so 1.) buy “Expanding Anyway” 2.) buy tickets to see them at Fareveller 3.) follow them around the country and sing along.
